You do not need a programming degree to start with Claude Code and Cursor — you do need clear descriptions and step-by-step testing. This article mirrors week 0–1 of Claude Vibecode 2026.

Setup checklist

  1. Claude account (Pro recommended for serious study)
  2. Cursor editor
  3. Chrome or Edge
  4. GitHub private repo for save points

Security: never paste API keys into public chats. Treat .env as a vault — do not commit it.

First prompt (no code yet)

Template:

  • Context: I am a [role] building [purpose]
  • Task: …
  • Output: bullets or a table
  • Ask me if anything is missing

Practice with a non-code task (email draft) to build the “director” muscle.

Mini project: one-page site

Goal: an index.html with your name and a hello button.

When it fails: screenshot + expected vs actual → send back to AI. That is Debugging 101 for the whole course.

Claude chat vs Cursor

Situation Tool
Idea interview, PRD Claude chat
Multi-file edits, run project Cursor Agent
Deploy, env, Supabase Cursor + week 5–6 checklists

Mini project won’t run?

→ Vibe code debugging service (Cursor / Claude Code / deploy).

Frequently asked questions

How is Claude Code different from claude.ai chat?

Chat is great for ideas and PRDs. Claude Code / Cursor Agent edits files inside a real project — better for shipping apps.

Do I need to know the terminal?

The course gives copy-paste commands. Think of the terminal as a command window — you do not memorize syntax.
